Located in Columbia, Illinois, this house was recently purchased to help the clients transition to their upcoming roles as 'empty-nesters'. Built in 1965, the home has many beautiful mid-century features, not all of which have aged so gracefully. Pushing out the north wall of the bedroom will create an additional space for an appropriately sized bathroom with walk-in closet. Matching the existing roof aesthetic creates an opportunity to loft the ceiling for additional volume and add skylights for increasing natural light without risking the intimacy of the space.
