Conceptual Design

I like to think of conceptual design as drawing with a fat pen. This is the stage of design where the big picture is considered. This often requires an understanding of the end user and their expected use of the final product/project. This is where the general shape or mass begins to form.

Design Development

This stage of design takes into consideration the research and results of the Conceptual phase in order to develop finer solutions including specific dimensions, materials, connections, and structure.

3D Modeling

Use of three dimensional, digital models throughout the design process allows for a cohesive understanding of the product/project, its adaptability throughout phases and its relationship with its context.

Digital Rendering

A 3D model is a great way study physical forms, but you can’t really get the feel of a design until you can experience the way the environment reacts to its textures and colors of its materials under realistic lighting, shadows, and sometimes fog conditions.

Construction/Fabrication Documentation

Construction and/or fabrication documents are the method of communicating an idea to both the officiating entity that may need to approve the work and the builders or fabricators that will be performing the work. A well organized set of construction documents will ensure that the product/project that they describe can be built identically, regardless of who is assembling the object

Project Management

Every product/project needs management to ensure that all of the moving parts including materials, logistics, budgets, contracts, engineers, surveyors, fabricators, builders are all working together towards the intended outcome.
